A Brief History of Spratt Fireplaces

Spratt Fireplaces was founded by my Parents in early 1985 out of the need for a fireplace in our new family home, My father had being involved in the building industry for many years in Ireland and UK so he decided to put his skills to use and decided to make his own. Orders started coming from relatives and friends and soon word of mouth spread thus the company H Spratt Fireplaces was born. The company traded as H.Spratt Fireplaces, our showroom was a room adjoined to our Family home with my mother tending to customers while my father was in control of manufacturing and installations, it soon out grew its humble beginnings, so the building which we are in today began life, and it grew to keep up with the business, and still growing to this day, with our recent workshop been erected to house our new Granite processing machinery, and plans for a new state of the art showroom and factory coming soon.

In 2013 my Parents Henry and Bridie retired and the company was handed over to myself (Jim). I have worked in the company from a young age through holidays and such, starting full time in 1997.

Although the core of the company is still proving high quality fireplaces throughout Donegal and Ireland we have expanded into the stove market and are now one of the largest stove retailers in the northwest of Ireland, with top major Brand as Morso, Stovax, Stratford, Spartherm, Hunter, Dilusso and many more. We also specialist in Bespoke solid fuel, Gas and Electric fire installs.

We also manufacture and install Granite, Marble and Quartz Kitchen Worktops, as we have worked with Granite and Marble for years it was an easy market for us to get into. We invested in cutting an polishing machinery to ensure the highest standard of finish.

Although it was something I aspired too one day running the company, I will admit it my Father and Mother have proved a tough act to follow, we still work with the same ethos as when the company was started, that is to prove the best service possible with a personal touch, advice my father had drummed into me from a young age and probably the most import advise he gave me while working in a customers home was to leave it as tidy as you found it.

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy shopping and browsing our web site.

Kind Regards

Jim Spratt
